The following article describes how to add and manage a subdomain from your customer area.
What is a subdomain?
Subdomains are the part of a domain that comes before the main domain name.
For example:
magic.fr is a domain
www.magic.fr is a sub-domain
cp.magic.fr is also a sub-domain
assistance.groupemagiconline.com is also a sub-domain
You can use all kind of letters from A to Z, numbers from 0 to 9 and the hyphen (-). The name must begin and end with a letter or a number. Blank space is definitely not allowed.
why do you need a subdomain ?
A subdomain allows to shorten URL when it is too long.
It allows websites to separate and organize content for a specific function, such as a blog or an online store.
For international companies, subdomains are used to create different language versions of a website such as en.yoursite.com or fr.yoursite.com, and even a mobile version like m.yoursite.com.
You can also use subdomains for geographical locations. For example london.yoursite.com, newyork.yoursite.com, paris.yoursite.com, etc.
For private use, you can use your first or last name as a subdomain.
A subdomain URL will allow you to tie in keywords relevant to your site, which is a great opportunity for you to improve SEO rankings based on those keywords.
Add subdomain
If your domain name points to external DNS servers, you must create the A entry for the subdomain at your provider.
First, go to your trademark control panel, Magic Online or Nuxit.
On the customer area, click on the menu Lodging.
The interface displays the list of accommodations, click on WEB MANAGEMENT.
In the section HOSTED DOMAINS click on the menu ACTIONSand then the option Subdomain.
Click on the button ADD A SUBDOMAIN.
Put the name of the sub-domain and choose the directory of pointing well to avoid the errors of redirection. Then check the box SSL redirection and click on VALIDATE.
Subdomain is added successfully.
The creation of a subdomain is effective within one hour. However, if your domain's DNS zone is managed on external DNS servers, you must manually declare the subdomain in your domain's DNS zone.
The underscore '_' (or Underscore) is not allowed in a subdomain.
Manage subdomain
Always on the customer area > menu Lodging > button WEB MANAGEMENT > section HOSTED DOMAINS > menu ACTIONS > and finally the option Subdomain. In the table, click on the button ACTIONS to see all the options available.
It is possible to :
- Modify the pointing directory.
- Configure the PHP version.
- Move the subdomain to another existing internal hosting.
- Delete the subdomain.
New Planet space
Always start by going to your client interface Magic Online or Nuxit.
Then click on the menu Support or Authcode domain which lead directly to the Planet interface.
Once the interface is open, follow the menu Shared Hosting.
Click on WEB MANAGEMENT of the accommodation in question.
In the section Hosted DomainsLocate the domain for which you want to add, and then click on the ACTIONS and then SUB-DOMAIN.
Click on the button to create the subdomain.
Put the subdomain of your choice. Click on ADD.
The interface displays this confirmation message.
To manage a sub-domain, you must always access the customer area > menu Support or Authcode domain which lead directly to the Planet interface > menu Shared Hosting > WEB MANAGEMENT of the accommodation in question > button ACTIONS > link SUB-DOMAIN.
It is possible to :
- Modify the pointing directory.
- Configure the PHP version.
- Move the subdomain to another existing internal hosting.
- Delete the subdomain.
