Expiration of my domain name

Note

If your domain has expired, the Renew domain name in your customer area will no longer be displayed. You must open a ticket and ask to reactivate this button. As soon as the late renewal is done, you have to wait between 12 and 24 hours for the DNS propagations to reactivate it. It should also be noted that domain restoration fees (between €50 and €80 excl. tax) will be charged depending on the extension of the domain.

Very important

When you order a domain from Magic Online, automatic renewal is activated by default (you can deactivate this option from your customer area), which means that the renewal order is automatically generated 30 days before the expiration date. As a result, at least one e-mail is sent to the subscriber to inform him/her about the need to renew the domain name.

More important

It is strongly discouraged to use @yahoo @gmail @hotmail email addresses as your primary profile address. Renewal alerts are sent to this address and therefore, if the email goes to spam, Magic cannot take responsibility for the fact that the email sent from him does not land in the inbox of your email address.

Expiration of my domain name

The expiration of a domain name includes the fact that no more operations can be applied on it.

DNS change, owner change, domain unlocking and even transfer code retrieval can no longer be performed because the domain is disabled.

From your Odin space, you can only add DNS entries or edit existing entries.

Solution and consequences

  • Solution

Even with this, what you add (like a subdomain) will not work on the Internet. You have to renew the domain so that the DNS is active again.

When a domain name passes the expiration date, it falls into the grace period at which renewal fees (between €50 and €80 excl. VAT) are imposed.

If the renewal is done during this grace period, the domain name will be reactivated within 2 to 24 hours.

If the grace period is exceeded, the domain goes into a redemption period where a renewal fee (between €50 and €80 excl. VAT) is imposed and the reactivation of the domain name can take between 72 hours and 5 days.

  • Consequences

When the redemption period is over, the domain name will be frozen for an undefined random period that varies between 2 and 7 days depending on the domain extension. At this point, it is no longer possible to renew, delete or apply any operation on the domain. Once this period has elapsed, the domain becomes public again.

Any person or Robot can reserve the domain name the second it falls into the public domain. So don't take the risk of letting your domain expire to avoid losing it completely.

You will find attached a detailed table of some extensions with their expiration dates.
