Renew domain name

The following article describes how to renew a domain name.

First, go to your trademark control panel, MAGIC or NUXIT.

On the dashboard, click Domain in the left menu, or the shortcut.

Note

If a domain name appears on the panel domains list, it does not necessarily mean that it is hosted by our services. Pick a Whois tool and search for the domain to check properly.

Domain listing

Domains list and some details are viewed.

If DNS HOSTING is Enabled and REGISTRATION STATUS is exactly Expires Soon, ACTIONS button will display Renew Subscription option.

Renew domain expiring soon

If Renew Subscription option does not appear, click the domain name and follow DOMAIN REGISTRATION, ACTIONS then Renew.

Renew domain

If Renew option does not appear on both cases, please open a support ticket in order to ask for domain renewal.

If you have the adblock module installed on your browser, remember that it can hide the box to confirm the terms and conditions when you make the payment. You must disable it to start the renewal.

Renewal period

If automatic renewal is ON, domain renewal will be done for the exact same previous order period.

That means if the last renewal was for two years, the new generated order will renew the domain for two years as well.

In this case, it is necessary to check the renewal period before paying an order manually.

When a subscriber generates a manual order, it overrides the automatic order. It is not possible having two renewals for the same product.

Important news item

Automatic renewal is ON by default for all kind of subscriptions.

Subscriber can disable automatic renewal at any moment.

Automatic renewal generates an automatic renewal order only.

If there is an activated payment method, then every generated order will be paid.

Orders are automatically generated 7 to 60 days before expiration date depending on the service and the customer account type.

When a subscriber generates a manual order, it overrides the automatic order. It is not possible having two renewals for the same product.

Missing the deadline

Missing renewal deadline is highly harmful for your company, so you should monitor domain validity. Renewing the domain on the expiration day anniversary will add fees costing up to 80€. If you will pay by check, you must send it several days BEFORE due date. Fees will be added whenever we receive checks after the expiration date.

Short example:
Subscriber orders a domain name on January 01, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. It is therefore the domain birthday date/time.
In 2022, if the renewal order is paid on January 01, 2022, at 10:31 a.m., then it is too late. Why? Because one minute after the deadline is a belated renewal. Fees are added for such context. At the registrar side, domain is disabled precisely at the anniversary date/time.

You must open a support ticket if renew option does not appear and the deadline is missed.

  1. Typically, a domain name will grant a grace period, during which time it should still be possible to renew it at the standard fee. No guarantee though: for some domain extensions, there is no grace period at all.
  2. If you missed the due date, and the grace period, your domain enters the Redemption Period. In this case, it is necessary to pay a fine up to 80 euros. Once paid, it takes 12 and 72 hours to enable the domain.
  3. After this period, the status changes to Pending Delete (pending to delete), and it is no longer possible to renew.
  4. The next stage, domain becomes available for anyone to register. You might be lucky at this point and order the domain again. But this doesn't always go as planned. There is a shady practise known as domain squatting. The idea is to reserve domain names associated with well-known brands or celebrities to then offer them for resale at exhorbitant prices. If that happens to you, you may as well kiss goodbye to your domain – unless you're prepared to pay the ransom.
