Congratulations! You have published your website.
If you build your website with Yola, we will submit it to search engines for review after publication. Once reviewed, ideally, search engines will index your site on specific keywords . If you want to speed up this process, we have some tips for you here in this article.
Google Webmaster Tools is a program that you can use to help you in the process of indexing your website. Once you have created an account, you can submit your website and its Sitemap for review.
Note that Google uses the following warning:
"We do not add all URLs to our index, and we cannot make predictions or guarantees as to when or if URLs will appear in our index."
What this means is that all sites are equal in treatment. Google bases its ranking on keyword content, and your website will be competing with others on those keywords. For this reason, the keywords are a real issueespecially for small businesses.
Don't worry, there are several things you can do to ensure your site's ranking.
You will need the URL of your website. If you plan to buy a custom domain for your website, now would be the ideal time, especially since Google has a slight preference for them.
Enter the URL of your site in Google Webmaster Tools. You will then need to verify that you own the website you added. You will need to copy the code given under "alternative methods" and "HTML tag."
Similarly, you will then need to add the code to the Google Webmasters widget under the "Site" tab in Sitebuilder. Once you have added the code, you will need to register and publish your website.
Next Click on "Verify" in your Google Webmaster Tools account.
The last and final step is to submit your sitemap. The sitemap of your website will be your web address (for example yola.com) plus /sitemap.xml . So, the complete URL will look like: http://mywebsite.com/sitemap.xml. Then, go to "Sitemaps" at Within your Google Webmaster Tools account, click on "Site Dashboard". Add this URL to the "Sitemap Add/Test" section, click Submit and you're done! Your sitemap submission is in place.
Once Google reviews your site, you can see useful information in this dashboard that will allow you tooptimize your website.
